The first word revealed in Islam is Iqra', which means Read! The importance of knowledge is so vital in Islam that it is reiterated over and over again in Al-Quran and Sunnah. In Hadith Bukhari, the Prophet
said, "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make a path to Paradise easy for him." In Hadith Muslim it was narrated that the Messenger of Allah also said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things - ceaseless charity, knowledge which is beneficial and prayers of their virtuous descendants."May Allah Ta'ala accept from us all, Ameen Ya Rabb!
